Rhythmic Eurorack systems and generative West Coast synthesis. Work built around complex oscillators, non-linear signal interaction, probabilistic sequencing, and noise structures that partially determine themselves. Hardware patches, VCV Rack environments, Pure Data instruments, and sound installations occupying physical space.
Sound installation presented at the ArtEncounters Biennial 2023. An aluminium enclosure with embedded LED arrays and circuit elements mounted on a pedestal, wired into the surrounding wall — a physical signal topology made visible. The wall carries painted cloud forms and routed cable traces, making the signal path part of the space itself.
A laptop destroyed by 13smash420 and reassembled as a plant. Disassembled chassis parts — keyboard deck, base shell, motherboard — suspended from a central stem rising from a flower pot. Technological object returned to organic form. Shown in two configurations: workshop context and bare room.
A Pure Data patch-as-instrument built for live performance on iPhone. Drone-linked ambient spiced with noise. Granular synthesis with parameters mapped to a pseudo-random West Coast noise patch driven by small C language expressions — a function laid out as a modulation source. Whitepaper available on request.
Pure Data instrument combining a granular synthesiser with a pseudo-random West Coast noise patch. Parameters driven by C expression functions — mathematical functions used directly as modulation logic. Generative behaviour emerges from the interaction of deterministic expressions and granular unpredictability.
Eurorack patch. Sputnik — an anthropic, unordered signal — interferes with Juno, the natural satellite of Jupiter. Juno is more powerful. Juno jams Sputnik. Natural phenomenon overpowers artificial one.
Audiovisual work in TouchDesigner with Eurorack. A presentation of the engine of a star — particles attracted and repelled by gigantic forces, the transformations that occur inside stellar bodies.
Pure Data patch. Study from Andy Farnell's Designing Sound, with West Coast noise intervention layered into the author's reproduced systems.
VCV Rack. Pure West Coast synth noise. Inspired by the sounds emerging from the modwiggler.com community of modular artists.
VCV Rack. Percussion and rhythm as the structural foundation, West Coast synthesis as the textural layer above it.
